Your privacy and the security of your personal information are important to us. This Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”) of COMPASS is designed to help you understand what information we gather when you visit the compasscyber.com web site (the “Site”), how we use that information, and how that information is protected.

Information We Collect

COMPASS generally collects personally identifying information only with your specific knowledge and consent. For instance, when you contact us via email, or when you post a comment as a response to one of our blog articles.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide about yourself when contacting us only to fulfill your requests and respond to your inquiries. Such information is not used for any other purpose. It is not shared with outside parties, except for occasional circumstances when we may call on one of our subcontractors to assist in fulfilling your requests and responding to your inquiries. In those circumstances, third parties are contractually bound to keep your information secure and only use it for the purpose of servicing your request.

Information you provide when posting a comment in response to one of our blog articles, is used only by our blog software to confirm that you are posting from a valid email address, so as to discourage “spam” comments from appearing on our blog. It is not collected or used internally by COMPASS, nor is it shared with any third parties.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of information that is sent to your browser when you access a web site. There are two kinds of cookies, session cookies and persistent cookies. A session cookie is a line of text that is stored temporarily in your computer’s memory. Because a session cookie is never saved, it is erased from the memory of your computer as soon as you close your browser. A persistent cookie is a more permanent line of text that gets saved by your browser to a file on your hard drive.

COMPASS uses session cookies in every section of our Site, except for the blog section. In the blog section, persistent cookies are used when you post a comment in response to one of our blog articles.

Additionally, cookies are used by our analytics provider to capture aggregate web site usage statistics. For more information on this, see the “Google Analytics” section below.

Log Files

When you visit our Site we automatically receive information about your computer, including the type of browser software you use, the operating system you are running, the web site that referred you, and your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address. Your IP address is usually associated with the place from which you enter the Internet, like your Internet Service Provider, your company or your university.
This information does not identify you personally, but rather identifies a visit to our Site. We use this information for the purposes of system administration, to assess the traffic to our Site, and to maintain and improve our Site. We do not attribute IP addresses to personally identifiable information and such IP addresses are not shared with outside parties except when required by law.

Google Analytics

COMPASS uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses persistent cookies to help analyze how users navigate our Site. Google Analytics uses these cookies to read information (including IP addresses) for the sole purpose of aggregating web site statistics, such as number of page views, the number of unique visitors, time spent on our Site, when visitors browse, and common entry and exit points into and from the Site. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. We do not share any personally identifiable information that you provide to us with Google. Google is contractually restricted from using information it receives from our Site other than to assist us. As a visitor to our Site, you have the option to deactivate the cookie placed by Google Analytics. If you would like to deactivate the Google Analytics cookie or find out more about Google Analytics, our service provider, including its privacy policy and how to opt out, go to: http://www.google.com/privacy.html.

Children’s Privacy

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at our Site from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our Site is structured to attract anyone under 13.

Our Site may contain links to other web sites. Please be aware that COMPASS is not responsible for the privacy policies and practices of such web sites. We encourage you to read the privacy statements of these linked sites as their privacy practices may differ from ours.
