COMPASS was fortunate enough to provide internships to four local students during the Summer of 2017. From on-site IT Vulnerability Scanning and Policy Development (internal and client-facing), to Event Planning and Social Media Marketing, our interns had the opportunity to work on a variety of initiatives within our organization. Learn more about our wonderful team of interns below.

John Lewis

Information Security Analyst, Summer Intern

John Lewis has joined COMPASS as an Information Security Analyst Summer Intern. He is currently in his fourth year at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) where he is majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Information Systems. John has developed a background in programming during his time at UMBC. While interning at COMPASS, he hopes to learn more about cyber security and acquire hands-on technical experience. John hosts a music radio show at UMBC and assists with managing the radio station. John’s hobbies include: listening to music, attending concerts, computer hardware, skiing, and high-end audio.

Henry Ballentine

Information Security Analyst, Summer Intern

Henry Ballentine has joined COMPASS as an Information Security Analyst Intern. He is a rising high school senior at Loyola Blakefield where he assists as a leader of their Cyber Informatics Program, and has recently made his way to the AFA’s CyberPatriot National Finals. Henry has experience in securely configuring and managing Domain Controller systems, websites, SQL servers, workstations, and VOIP servers. At COMPASS, he hopes to learn more about cyber security and gain real-world experience in applying what he has learned. Outside of cyber security Henry’s interests include: sailing, skiing, reading, fencing, computer hardware, and choir.

Michael Knott

Information Security Analyst, Summer Intern

Michael is currently a Junior in the Computer Science Program at UMBC. Between high school and college classes he has learned Java, Python, C++, and website design with HTML/CSS. Michael has 3 years of experience, working in an IT department prior to COMPASS. After acquiring his degree, he hopes to work in either cyber security or software development.

This summer, Michael will be working with the COMPASS team to identify vulnerabilities, develop device protocols, and help administer employee protocol training programs for clients.

Trey Wagner

Information Security Analyst, Summer Intern

Trey Wagner will be attending Lafayette College in the fall, where he plans to pursue a degree in Computer Science or Economics. Prior to joining COMPASS, Trey attended the Gilman School, where he developed a passion for mathematics, coding, and writing for his school newspaper. During his time with COMPASS, Trey hopes to expand his knowledge of the skills required in the cyber security industry. In his free time, Trey enjoys playing and watching soccer, listening to music, and spending time with his friends.
